Theonomy for Theologicans

  • Theonomy is an issue I do not care to get into or even define.  James 4:11,12 talks about   judging our brother, judging the law and points out there is but one lawgiver.
  • "It was not for societies or states that Christ died, but for men." C. S. Lewis
  •  "I've read the last page of the Bible. It's all going to turn out all right." Billy Graham
  •  There is so much more to eschatology than Revelation.
  •  This site has more. http://theonomists.blogspot.com/
  • So does this site. A Critique of Theonomy and Reconstructionism

  1. Hi, NewKid...

I believe you have come to the proper conclusion. The Gospel is about eternity, not the here and now. While Christians are to love God and to love their neighbor, they are called to occupy until the Lord returns. We are to try to reform societies and the world but that is not the primary focus of Christianity. Our purpose is to preach the doctrines of grace so that all the elect may be brought together in Christ around the heavenly throne.

Any time the focus is on this world the inevitable result is that sinful men go astray. Looking at the track record of Israel in the Old Testament we can see that earthly rulers are easily led astray because of their inherently sinful nature. The same is true today. We are not to trust in kings or rulers but in God. God is our king. Our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20).

    In Christ,

    Charliee
